Praise for DragonKnight“DragonKnight is a thoroughly enchanting fantasy where dragons speak, tiny mouse-like guardians protect normal-size folk, and young people search for identity. Woven through Donita K. Paul’s carefully crafted world is a strong theme of love, redemption, and the sufficiency of God to see His children through all trials. The icing on this delightful cake is a surprise ending that brings tears of joy!”–Douglas Hirt, author of the Cradleland Chronicles series“Donita K. Paul’s inventiveness never ceases to amaze. Fresh ideas for new races of people and unusual creatures keep flowing from her gifted pen. Classic is written all over this series.” –Jill Elizabeth Nelson, author of Reluctant Burglar “DragonKnight swept me into the exciting exploits of Bardon and his loyal friends. I loved it!!! Although the book was not focused on DragonKeeper Kale Allerion(which disappointed me at first.)it was focused on Bardon, squire to Paladin. But Kale shows up in the second part, which I liked better than the first. It starts off with Bardon traveling to a cabin in the middle of nowhere, or so he thought...Bardon meets Granny Kye and her daughter, N'rae(whom I thought was very annoying.),both of them are searching for Granny Kye's son, who is N'rae's father. So Bardon joins the quest (reluctantly). He meets people along the way some of which he wish he hadn't met. And while trying to rescue a friend of his, he accidentally travels through a gateway(Ms. Paul's name for a portal). He lands in Wizard Fenworth's castle, there, to my joy, he meets up with Kale. And Kale is allowed to join the quest also. So here they are trying to escape an illusion, with meech dragon, Regidor, of course. When they do escape, they return to a castle and find N'rae, her grandmother, Granny Kye, and everyone else there too. That's when the magic happens. Kale and Bardon fall in love!!! (I love romance, so excuse me.) And Bardon does what you expect him to do, he rescues the fair damsel in distress, Kale, from Pretender, when she goes down with Toopka to go find Ahnek and Sittiponder in the dungeon. This book was probably my favorite in the series. A book filled with adventure, romance, and suspense. Thank you Ms. Paul!

DragonKnight is a fantastic fantasy book! It follows two other novels, DragonSpell and DragonQuest, and it is a good addition to the series. I felt that the first six chapters or so dragged a little bit, but it soon picked up the pace and became very interesting. While the first two books were told from Kale's view, this book focuses on Squire Bardon and his adventures. This Christian allegory novel has action, adventure, battles, and a little smidgen of romance. Squire Bardon is on his way to a sabbatical and hopefully a year of peace and quiet to search himself and decide whether he will continue on to be a knight to serve Paladin and Wulder, or not. But it isn't long after he alights from his dragon, Greer, that he faces an opposition to his anticipated sabbatical. Three women, N'Rae and Granny Kye of the emerlindian race, and Jue Seeno, a creature called a minnekin, petition him to lead their quest to awaken spellbound knights. One of these sleeping knights is N'Rae's father. Bardon agrees, but this quest takes him farther than he could imagine. He travels through the land of Amara, where he and people of six other high races live. He travels on the sea and into the Northern Reach. He battles quiss, grawligs, and other creatures. Bardon meets old friends and makes new ones as he picks up more and more members in his quest.A struggle between good and evil, light and darkness, right choices and wrong choices steer the action in this book. I recommend this book to people who like fantasy books, who like action and fights, who like dragons, and basically anyone else in the world! (Although I think it would be good to read the first two books first)

Very imaginative! She tells a good story and this third book has been a joy to read. Each has had something different in it and has gotten better than the last in this series. The main character is different in this one, one of the supporting characters in the last book. She did a good job with that. I love the idea of little dragons with different powers. She has a very good grasp of telling a story that is fun and also has a good moral lesson. This is a good read for older children as well as anyone who likes a fantasy full of wondrous things.

I have read all three of the books in this series. DragonKnight does not disappoint. I've read fantasy books all my life but have never fallen in love with a series until this one.Donita Paul's books are wholly Christian with a beautiful allegory to Christ. But they are also wholly fantasy with dragons, magic, sword fights, and adventures. These are appropriate for every age group. I can't wait until my toddler is old enough to understand them--they are perfect read-aloud family books.

Riveting save money go ahead and buy the set. Entertaining.

True heroes and heroines are few and far between. I found these books by using dragon as the main search word. While the dragons are there to add a little spice, the moral values that are revealed are absolutely appropriate for young teen readers. Plan to introduce my grandson to Bardon and Kale this summer. Can't wait for his reactions.

Do you have a son or daughter that is captivated by mystical stories, but you are looking for alternatives to Harry Potter and other mindless "magical" stories. Well DrangonFire just about does it. Paul give the reader the adventure they crave, but wraps it in an extremely thought provoking context. Great for any age...

I am,an,adult really enjoying these books, would make a great read and journal discussion for 7 th 8 th graders,Fantasy elementsGod over evilParallels between Wilder as God the creatorPaladin as Jesus. What type of Christians are we?

This is a devotion for families to read in preparation to celebrate Easter. I wanted to make that clear because I've seen reviews of Christian books where non-Christians complain that they were misled.I read this aloud to two boys who were 12 and 10. They enjoyed the story. At first, I found it a bit difficult (tedious) to read. In fact, I tried it once before putting it away. I took it out a year later and decided to stick it out. I think that's because the first two or three chapters are long and slow in comparison to the rest of the book. The young male protagonist is initially upset that he will have a female house guest. I didn't find him appealing because he seemed to make such a big deal of it.However, the story picks up after that and continues to move along at a nice clip. The boys enjoyed the story and always wanted to read additional chapters. (As a side note: they could have read it themselves but we like to enjoy some books together.) At first I had wondered if we (I) would make it through before Easter, since we began the book late. We also skipped some days when we were busy. We still made it through by combining some chapters every time we read. The conflict here is pretty high stakes, which is engaging. There is essentially a mystery to solve. It is still fun for an adult or older reader who knows their Bible. One interesting aspect is the detail given about the temple, especially in relation to the Fortress of Antonia. Some real people are mixed in with the story but fictional elements are added to their lives. For example, an apostle is credited as having a daughter, but that is never mentioned in Scripture. Very young children may find that confusing. From what I recall, characterization is good. The protagonist is the most well developed. His friends also have distinct and consistent personalities. The mother and brothers are shuttled to the side. For example, one of the boys is described as having a lying problem. That goes nowhere. The editing could have been better. I told the boys that I didn't want them to read the book themselves because there are so many misplaced commas. There may have been other problems, but I don't remember them now.I also don't know that we got a whole lot out of the devotional verse(s) and message at the end of each chapter. I thought some didn't quite fit with the chapter we had read.Despite its flaws, we really enjoyed the story. I think many Christian families with enjoy. It made the boys want to read all the others in the series. I wish there were more Easter stories like this one.

We have loved the Advent stories by this author, but this story is a disappointment. It wasn't nearly as engaging, but we were willing to muddle through in hopes that the climax would be as exciting as the others. However as we read through the chapters beginning with the Last Supper, the Biblical inaccuracy as well as the extra characters added into the true story of Christ's Last Supper, the arrest, the trial in the courtyard, etc, felt false and misleading. Very disappointed in this one.

We have 5 boys ages 15,13,12,10 and 5. They all loved this book! Often they would ask to read 2 passages instead of 1 because they were so interested in the story! Love the scripture verses at the end of each passage that help tie it all together. We read Jothams Journey during Christmas and the kids enjoyed that some of the characters carried over to this story. There are 25 short chapters. Was a bit more difficult for us to keep on top of. With Jothams Journey, the story of advent, you read a passage each day. We started this book too early and only needed to read a chapter ever few days so it was wasy to get behind. Next time we read this I will make sure we map it out a littlw better.

It is a good story and does help prepare the heart for the celebration of the Resurrection. I would have liked it to have been more about Jesus and perhaps the perspective of how a young boy (Amon) may have experienced these events in history...the story is more focused on Amon's fictional story than on the story of Jesus itself. Still a good read and I'm sure we'll read it again as a family in the future!

Mr. Ytreeide writes wonderful books. We read all of them to our children (except his latest) He doesn't gloss over how the times were back then. Read first, before reading to very young children. We just took the time to explain some of the harsh conditions before we read. I am looking forward to getting the latest and reading it myself for this Advent. (My children are already grown!) Fabulous to even re-read.

I had this book on my wish list for almost 2 years. I was waiting for my kids to be old enough to sit through this read aloud. Now they are 10, 7, 5 and 3 y.o. and really enjoyed the book. There are many chapters in this book and the story builds as it develops. After each chapter there is a verse and a paragraph to think on. Although I enjoyed this feature, I don't think it was appropriate for my kids age yet. I think we will be reading this book every year and as they get older, I believe I will give them each a copy of this devotional part for them to think on before they go to bed. I advice you to read this book weeks before Easter... we began 2 weeks before Easter and didn't finish until almost 10 days later. I highly recommend this book. There is a lot of historical and cultural information in the book. It would be a great addition to Roman or Ancient History curriculum. We will read this again next year.

Another fantastic Home Run for Andy. I have read everything he has written and never been disappointed. This latest series picks up where the other leaves off and focuses on the younger generation carrying on their quest for justice. Plenty of action keeps you turning the pages. Though it is categorized as young adult i find it satisfying for every age that likes well written fantasy stories

This is a well written novel. The characters each have an extraordinary talent, they are different in the reasons they are in Salandra but the keepers are watching of these youngsters in their conquests. Clean reading for the young tween and adults alike. I can say that Andy Peloquin is a very good writer.

Well book two in this new series, and just as good as the first. Plenty of action and intrigue to keep you engrossed all the way through. Cannot wait for book three. If you liked the first one you’ll love this. Highly recommended.
