This book is a Beautiful African Cinderella fairy tale. I remember when I was a child listening to this story from reading rainbow and I was hooked. Its been one of my favorite stories since I was young that I still own the paper back copy I had since I was a young girl. I recommend this for every child to read, worth every penny

As a teacher and a parent of a girl, I read a lot of books that are different versions of classic stories. This story is an African tale similar to Cinderella. There are versions of Cinderella from around the world. It is important for my daughter to not only know that beautiful comes in all shapes and colors, but also that kindness helps make you beautiful.

One of my favorite childhood books! It came free of marks or any defects. The pictures were bright and the writing was clear. Can't ask for much more! We are thrilled to add this one to our collection of children's books!

The moral lesson of this timeless story is that beauty is as beauty does. Not only is the story deserving of the awards it garnered, the illustrations are beautiful. I used it to teach moral and theme as an elementary teacher, and again to captivate and teach our grand daughters the Golden Rule.

My girls(2&4) love this story and I like the value of kindness it teaches. We read this story frequently. It is a keeper. I remember reading as a kid as well.

This is such a timeless children's princes story reminded us that beauty is as beauty does. I loved this tale growing up and now I give it to my friends when they have little girls or as gifts at children's birthday parties.

I bought this book because it's really hard to find children's books where there are black characters. I read the story and really liked it. It is part of my reading material so when my nieces or other kids come over, they also have something to read. Really good story.

I have shared this book with countless classes over the years. It's a wonderful read aloud and holds the students' attention well.

I still think a lot of the communication between the two are misleadingwhere a woman would dress to get what she wants along with touching and becoming very personal: crying, bringing up family issues, etc. Liked the discussions on how to substantiate asking for a raise.Loved hearing male side of how they perceive things and point system, glad to hear of this.I received this book from National Library Service for my BARD (Braille Audio Reading Device).

This is the first Mars/Venus book in the author's series of books that I've read. I have heard several good things about the original book Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Naturally, curiosity got the better of me, and I purchased a copy of this book.I liked how the author was able to coherently build a framework to explain the differences between men and women. His analogy to interplanetary species having to co-mingle here on earth struck me as original and humorous.There were, however, certain aspects of this book that are a bit disappointing to me. Whereas I agree with most of his points, I wish the author would have included more real world examples and scenarios. In 290 pages of text, only 3 examples were given as to how effective this framework could be.The book's recurring theme and lesson is that men and women basically misunderstand each other because they come from different planets where customs and traditions vary.The book is full of 2-3 column charts on what men and women should or shouldn't say at certain situations. It attempts to explain what is going on in the mind of a woman as a result of what a man does or says, and vice versa. It also offer remedial dialogue for what to say when a "misunderstanding" is about to occur.Another point the author drills into the readers mind is: Men are quick to arrive at solutions whenever a woman approaches him with a problem, not knowing that this is her way of including him in her world and a way of leading up to her solution. It states, half a dozen times throughout the book, that women share their emotions with men in the workplace not as a way of putting blame or soliciting advice, but rather a way to make an emotional connection. Men, on the other hand, view this as a sign of weakness and a waste of time. The author terms men as Mr. Fix It because men seem to always quickly offer a solution not fully hearing out what a woman has to say. Believe it or not, that was the single most important takeaway of the whole book. Each chapter repeats a variation of this lesson.Toward the end of the book, the author crams in a chapter about sexual harrassment. Why it occurs (based on his framework of interplanetary misunderstanding) and what can be done to relieve or tolerate it. I do think the topic of sexual harrassment in the workplace is relevant, but I felt it was glossed over.The second to the last chapter is devoted to essentially two checklists: 101 Ways Men can Empathize with Women and 101 Ways Women can Empathize with Men. And there really were 101 items on each list. This struck me as odd because it reminded me of a little book called Life's Little Instruction Book by H. Jackson Brown . It had suggestions like compliment her hairstyle, offer to bring her a glass of water, carry around a family photo in your wallet, etc. It just seemed really odd to me that this would be included in this book.(I'm curious as to whether this book stemmed from the author's workshop materials or the other way around. Maybe this book is the summary of his specialized courses to institutions.) Either way, I'm afraid I cannot recommend this book because what the author has spent almost 300 pages trying to explain, I can capture in 3 paragraphs.

The biggest thing missing from my MBA education was learning how to interact with other people. Business is nothing if we can't communicate effectively and regularly. This book explains in clear terms how men can understand women and communicate effectively. We men can't talk to women the way we do with other men. We are very different. By following Dr. Gray's guidelines, men can learn how to earn the trust and respect of female co-workers. We can learn easy ways to speak the woman's language and understand her perceptions. The most fascinating aspect is the description of women's emotions, what they mean, and positive responses men can use to increase productivity and create a pleasant workplace. Working in harmony is the only way to go.I should think that this book can be especially helpful to women, as they are basically working in a world that has been designed and run by men. As Dr. Gray says, a woman's challenge in the workplace is greater than a man's. While the books and research of Gail Evans and Dr. Deborah Tannen and others have described gender differences, this book by Dr. Gray sheds light on many aspects of workplace problems and offers solutions that are easy, respectful, effective, and even fun.

Dr Gray has done it again...another outstanding book.His insights have assisted me with my male(martians)client.My practice is now brimming with males....because I now understand not to give unsolicited advice...but rather ask better questions.The tools and skills should be taught in schools.I wish I had of know the differences when I first started out in the workplace.Bravo Dr Gray... It is truly amazing how little changes make such big differences.The quality of my relationships since using the mars venus principles has gone to levels I had never dreamed of! As a single parent with two boys,I am grateful for all the knowledge and practical advice....It is wonderful to have such a close connection with them. I would suggest everyone in the workplace read this.How wonderful to go back to basics,courtsey,shivilery.I could only image how much more pleasant,loving and caring the world would be if everyone adopted Grays work! Keep up the much needed work! God bless him for trying to open peoples eyes and hearts!!!!

This Smith-Goodspeed Bible is a classic and it is far superior to most of the Fundagelical Establishment/Swamp Bibles that have been churned out for the past few decades. I see that this Bible is being attacked by Christians online, despite Smith & Goodspeed being great scholars. This is usually a good sign that it is a superior translation as it signals that these men let the Greek and Hebrew speak for itself, instead of saying what mainstream Christians want it to say.

This is a used book purchased through Amazon. The book was in very good condition considering it's age. It was at least as good as described by the book seller. The price was very reasonable and a thank you not from the seller made it a little extra nice. The book is easy to read and helps in understanding the meanings of some of the more difficult texts in the Bible. I would not hesitate to purchase from this seller again.

This is an excellent bible-written in the 1940s. The book was used as expected but was in good condition as advertised. With all the junk that's printed today, you'd think that this bible would still be in print.

Is this book on your summer reading list? It should be. Two words: Page turner! Caution: Once you start reading it, you will never want to put it down. I read 148 pages in one sitting! I had to put it down to eat dinner! This novel will take you on a remarkable journey in which you will find hope in the face of fear, love in the shadows of hate, and forgiveness in a heart filled with despair. Keely tells a story of a remarkably strong young boy, Ricky, who was kidnapped by the LRA and pressed on through the trials and torture he faced as a child soldier in Joseph Kony's war. Ricky's strength of mind and spirit serve as his guide as he tries to find 'Obeno' (home) once again. This novel should be in the hands of everyone...adults and students.

Soldier Boy is a book that needed to be written and needs to be read by everyone - adults and young adults as well. The resiliency of one man (Ricky Richard Anywar) in the face of so much adversity is an example for us all. In addition, the author's (Keely Hutton) style of writing, articulation, and organization of the content of this book is perfect, the reader gets the sense that he/she is right there in Uganda. There is so much to be learned, on so many levels, that when finished news clippings about child abductions take on a whole new meaning and the only thing left to say is "I am so much more informed and glad that I read Soldier Boy".

I think this book should be read in every school so that kids in this country would know how fortunate they are. There was some violence and lots of scenes that were hard to read but I finished with a feeling that I had really learned something. As the mother of three sons, I can't imagine the horror that these poor people suffered at the hands of really evil people. I commend Keeley Hutton for writing this book. It must have been very difficult.

Last night I finished reading Keely Hutton's SOLDIER BOY. Actually, I completed it at 3AM, because I couldn't put it down. I'm so impressed with Keely's commitment to her craft and her gift as a writer. Despite the agony in those pages, she pulled me through, with her amazing ability to find just the right words. And the hope both she and Ricky Richard Anywar offer. Though there are violent scenes (it IS real, after all), nothing is gratuitous. And the alternating stories create a perfect balance. Well done!

Not only is this a great book, but the author is such a gem! She took the time to Skype with my 10th grade English class and they were hanging on her every word. Some of my most reluctant readers were passing around this book, very interested in it.

A very powerful book- I highly recommend. Heartbreaking and shocking at times. Beyond distressing that such unspeakable atrocities can occur in our modern world. What an amazing human being to find a way to show acts of kindness amidst such horror and rise above it to help others. Really inspiring. Thank you Keely Hutton for sharing Ricky's amazing story.

This book is at times overwhelming but is a must read. Constant action and good narrative. It is such a sad situation in Uganda and any nation that kidnaps children to fight wars. What Ricky and the others witness at such a young age is beyond belief. Keely Hutton's writing and this story highlight the need for all of us to support the orphans and the children who are so misused in this world.

This is without a doubt one of the best books I have read in years. It is based on what really happened and I encourage all to read it. High School English teachers: this would be an excellent book for your students to read and discuss. Keely is an up and coming author. I cnnot wait to read her next book!
