I love this author. She is classy and “old- school.”This book is eloquently written.As a born-again believer in Jesus Christ as my Savior, I was very helped as a young person reading this book before I married my husband. I purchased it again as a help for a series on Purity that I was having with our teen girls from our youth group. There was a little bit I was able to share with them. But mostly this book is for a single person who has committed themselves to staying pure and saving themselves for their future spouse.I think this book would be very hard to understand and laughed at- if the reader didn’t have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.Look up these verses in a KJV Bible to find out how to have a relationship with Jesus:(Then buy the book. 😁)Romans 3:23Ephesians 2:8-9John 3:16Romans 10:13This book has really been a blessing to me!

I wish as a young man I would have known about Elisabeth Elliot. I know I would not have made the common mistakes. Her is so amazing and my daughter loved reading this book. Note that the book will not save you hence you as a parent need to read it and apply it together. Mistakes and bad judgements will happen but there is Grace.

I enjoyed reading Elisabeth's story of her courtship and will purchase her subsequent books to discover what happened to the remainder of their time together in Ecuador. I'd recommend this book to any young unmarried woman to give her an idea of what courtship should be like as opposed to what is considered courtship today.

Elisabeth Elliot and this book are absolutely excellent!!! I love how authentic and practical this book is. It completely change my mindset on dating and even on other aspects of life. Elliot does not make being relatable or funny or politically correct her priorities, but trait but puts forth scripture and her personal experience to develop this incredible guide to what it means to be in a God honoring relationship. I bought so many of these as gifts because they are so good!

Elisabeth Elliot is best known as the wife of martyred missionary Jim Elliot, as chronicled in her book, Through Gates of Splendor (1957). Christians are still awe struck by her unceasing ministry to the native people responsible for his death. While I have not yet read that work, an error I intend to correct, I have had the pleasure of reading her book Passion and Purity (1984).The subtitle "Learning to Bring Your Love Life Under Christ's Control" suggest an emotionless book of prescribed behavior to deal with Christian singleness. Passion and Purity is neither cold nor tactical. The strength of this book is that it is personal. At times it reads like great historical fiction as Mrs. Elliot answers the questions of modern single people by opening up the journals and letters of her youth and sharing her courtship with Jim.The Elliot's courtship was intentional, Christ-centered, painful, beautiful and as humanly possible pure. This is not a how to book, but a why to book. The reality is we all know the mechanics of being pure, the challenge is holding onto our convictions in the face of ill-timed passion. I am grateful for the example of the Elliot's.Elisabeth Elliot as an author proves herself to be wholly inspiring, convicting, and absolutely readable. Unwilling to part from her at this time, I have begun to read another of her many books. Single people and those who love single people should visit with Mrs. Elliot and her great God in this book.

This is a wonderful book for young women and men who want to live a Christian life and keep themselves pure for their future mate.I would recommend this book to young people before they begin dating. This book will help them to realize what they are doing when they sell their purity cheaply without the commitment of marriage.This book deals, very frankly, with the feeling that a young couple can have for each other, but also deals frankly with the idea of keeping oneself for marriage and a life of true purity and passion within the marriage bed. A commitment that is promised and given to only one person, not passion for a one night fling, but passion for life.A beautiful book!

So I read this book going into my sophomore year of college and it is SO GOOD. It gives a wonderful perspective of both singleness and marriage and really teaches men and women how to invite God into their love lives and surrender them to his control! I've learned so much about relationships and my relationship with God through reading this book! 10/10 would recommend!

I bought this book because my pastor recommended it to me. It is probably one of the most helpful books I have ever read, and one of the few that I plan to read again. I am a young man in my late teens that is considering courtship and marriage for the first time. This book was so helpful and reassuring to me that I recommend that anyone that is considering any type of relationship with the opposite sex should read. I knew about courtship before reading this book but it really solidified my understanding and gave me a great biblical guideline and example. It has taught me how to act appropriately around young women, given me more patience in finding a future spouse, and has also given me some great tools in the selection of a future spouse. Anyone who seeks to be biblical and and obey Christ's will for us in this very difficult process of finding a spouse should read this book.

I bought this book to have a handy resource for my Blueridge BR-40T Tenor guitar. It has been very handy to help with giving me easy arrangements, chord diagrams, and TAB for a nice assortment of familiar songs.I am an advanced beginner guitarist and started gcea tuned ukulele in March, so the DGBE tuning for my tenor guitar isn’t wholly unfamiliar.That being said having a book has given me a great starting point to be able to play around and become familiar with my instrument as I learn theory from other resources.I highly recommend for the recreational player like myself who wants chords and TaB to be able to quickly start playing!I originally gave 4 stars because there are some typos in the lyrics and a few omitted chord diagrams (the chord is written into the song but not diagramed on the song page with the others), but the value of what I did get in this book out weighs the omissions. Hopefully the editor or author will catch and correct them in a future edition.I would love to see additional books in this style, price point and for this tuning offered!

Love the variety of songs. Yes you can find most of these somewhere online for free but I like having a real music book with the musical notation and chord diagrams. This book has useful tips for chord fingerings for beginners. I think it is great! I probably own over a hundred different music books for three different instruments (piano, guitar and ukulele). I wish it had been available as a spiral bound type, but that is easily remedied with a trip to Kinkos or similar copy store that can rebind the book. I am definitely enjoying playing the old favorites from this book.

Mostly old time songs and question accuracy of some chords. Many hints on strumming and fingerpicking.

Nice easy tunes with few chords. There are a lot of familiar tunes - great book to learn from.

I have felt "different" my whole life and have frequently described myself as an alien. I had heard of Asperger's before, but every description of it I heard or read was brief and focused on only a few traits of the condition and cases that were moderate to severe. I was totally unaware of the long list of more subtle traits such as sensory sensitivity, stimming, and that not everyone with AS is totally blind to non-verbal social cues. There is remarkable variability among those with AS, and every individual trait exists on a spectrum or may be expressed in different ways, and some traits may not be present at all. Tony Attwood's book went into far more detail than anything I found online and was based more on his 40 years of experience actually working with and getting to know and understand Aspies than the few bullet points of the DSM. I found his book to be incredibly insightful and an invaluable resource for anyone who wants to understand the condition. I repeatedly saw myself in his descriptions and was shocked and excited to sometimes even see specific words or phrases I had used myself (having trouble with "the system" for example).The Complete Guide to AS helped me immensely in understanding myself, why I am so different, and how I can better succeed in life and have positive relationships. I would highly recommend this book to anyone wanting to learn about the condition and cannot thank Dr. Attwood enough for producing such a book an sharing his expertise. Thank you!

I've read a lot of books since our diagnosis for our son, and this one did the best job. He can write for a parent to understand the syndrome, and most importantly to understand how your kid THINKS. Because they don't think like you do. That doesn't make them bad, or wrong, just different enough to need a translator. If your kid is lucky you'll stumble upon this book and learn about how your kid sees the world: what they notice, what they don't, what makes sense to them, and what doesn't.It's a guidebook for those who love Aspies and want to help navigate them through life without shaming them, or making them feel bad about how they were born. My kid is much happier with a family who understands him and can help him make connections and who can intelligently explain how he's different to other people who haven't read this book. God bless Tony Attwood.I buy this again and again to give away. It's that important.

I don't feel Theory of Mind adequately or fairly describes what is really going on with Aspergers. Certainly there are social difficulties, but to say that people with Aspergers, especially adults, don't understand that other people have minds and emotions is just untrue, and that's what the most rigid proponents of Theory of Mind are still trying to assert. Proponents of Theory of Mind may even assert the person with Aspergers lacks emotions or caring. While I don't feel this author is going to these extremes, enough of the proponents of Theory of Mind have done so in a way that is deeply flawed and discriminatory against people with Aspergers. Including ToM in this book dilutes what is otherwise a very compassionate tone.Learning how to improve social abilities can only be possible for people who do, in fact, realize that they and other people have varied thoughts and emotions. What people with Aspergers have trouble with is intuiting social communication, but that can happen to anyone in specific situations - such as traveling to a very different culture. I would have felt this book was much stronger if the author took the time to acknowledge there is debate around this issue in the community.

It is wonderful to know that I am not mad. That I am just uncoordinated and not trying to hurt myself. That my escape into imagination doesn't mean that I am insane.This book explained all the things I just couldn't understand about who I am. It also explained why other people respond to me the way they do. My mother didn't reject me, she thought it was her fault I was different. And now I understand that I don't have to be afraid all the time.There is lots more to read and take on board. I wish my parents had known about this book when I was young. Thank you Tony Attwood for writing this book.

I read this book in two days flat. It's a full sized textbook type of book (and anyone who has gone to college knows that textbooks can sell for up to and over $100 - this has as much info as a textbook IMO but at under $20 is just an absolute steal) but I couldn't put it down. This truly should be required reading for anyone with Asperger's, anyone with a familyl member with Asperger's, anyone who ever thinks they might ever know someone who might have Asperger's, and certainly every single psychologist and teacher, social worker and child care provider should take the time to read. I would say this was the single most important item I have read or viewed among a sea of information on the internet, in TED Talks, on television, etc. I cannot possibly recommend it enough. I highlighted the things which I related to, and/or which I found particularly enlightening and when I was done I realized that quite literally more than 85% of the book is covered in yellow highlighter. It is just that good. Don't waffle on this purchase, just do it. I can't imagine anyone regretting it. The author could probably offer a money back guarantee and never shell out a dime, it's that good.

I was recently diagnosed with ASD, and bought 3 copies of this book to loan to friends/family as I slowly tell them of my diagnosis. I've read many different books on autism/asperger's, and this is by far the best. Tony Attwood explains the condition in a way that is easy to understand and approachable even for non-experts or people who had never heard of the condition before. I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is recently diagnosed, thinks they might have it, has friends or family on the spectrum, or is just interested in it and wants to learn more about it.
