Art and story seem great, but I had product issues like several others here. Book came bound with an extra half of the story - it starts midway through (no title page, etc.), ends, then restarts with the title page about halfway through the book. There is a complete set of the story, so I considered just cutting the extra pages out, but there's quite a few and the book would look weird. Very disappointing since I ordered this early for a Christmas gift, and now it's out of stock, so the replacement is estimated delivery in mid January. Please take a look at your quality control for the book assembly/binding! You should not have this many poorly constructed books going out.

This originally appeared at The Irresponsible Reader.---This is going to be short and sweet. The premise: Take Die Hard one of the greatest action films ever made, one of the greatest Christmas movies ever made, and an all-around pop culture touchstone and turn it into a ( NOT for kids) rhyming picture book.I'm not sure I really need to say more, do I?Horner does an admirable job with taking the flick and turning it into a series of rhymes -- it doesn't feel like a gimmick. A lot of what he doesn't grab, Harrison takes care of in the illustrations. It's not perfect, things are left out, but with only 32 pages -- you pretty much have to. Only 1 four-letter word, too (technically, 12 letters, but you get the point). The art is great -- although you could make the case that Harrison gave McClane too much hair. The art is dynamic, you can feel the action, the characters all look just right. Some samples of the illustrations are here on Harrison's site. One complaint? No Argyle. Which I guess makes sense given the limited space, but man . . .This is a hoot -- yeah, a novelty book, but well executed and well worth a read. Something to bring out every December (if you're the type to do that).

For me, it ain't Christmas until two things happen. I watch National Lampoons Christmas Vacation and Die Hard. When I saw this, how could I not jump on it? I'm starting a new Christmas tradition. I'm reading how John Mcclane saved Christmas and bunch of hostages from Hans Gruber to kids on Christmas eve. Kind of warms my heart like the heat wave of a C4 explosion coming up an elevator shaft justing about it.

I wasn't expecting the whole thing to rhyme! It reads to the tune of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" and covers the entire movie perfectly with beautiful illustrations. I love it!!!

My husband's favorite Christmas movie in children's book form? Umm...I think, yes! I put this book on my wish list even before it came out and I'm so glad I did. I gave it to my husband for Christmas and it gave him the biggest smile. He's going to read it to our grandchildren when we have any. In the meantime, he read it to me and it was extremely entertaining. It's written in the same prose style as 'Twas the Night Before Christmas and the author does a great job with the rhyming. The illustrations are great as well and capture the spirit of the characters in a child-like way. I can see this book becoming a Christmas family tradition that is read every year.

I'm pretty bummed. I wanted an R-rated movie adapted into a silly children's book, not an R-rated movie adapted into an R-rated book with illustrations and rhymes. It's surprisingly violent, which I could deal with - but, the last line of the book is "yippee-ki-yay, mother f***er!" (uncensored). I get it, the line is iconic, but come on... You're catering to children. I, as an adult, love Die Hard, but that doesn't mean I'm going to let my kids watch it. It's a fun idea, but make no mistake - this is NOT a children's book.

My absolute favorite movie, which is quickly becoming my son's favorite as well. The illustrations are straight out of something from those old-time Little Golden Books and they are AMAZING. JJ Harrison is a fantastic artist, really capturing each actor and scene in his own special way. The way the writer, Doogie Horner, tweaked the script in just the right way as to make it into a classic Christmas tale one would read around the fireplace for the entire family. I will definitely look for more books like this.

THIS. IS. AMAZING!!! Granted some key scenes are out of the book like I would have loved to have had the no lady I'm ordering a pizza scene in the book, but hey, they kept the iconic line in the book (that is totally not suitable for children!) which is the most amazing part of this book. It is told in the format of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas, the artwork is spot on, and the story flows well. This is a must for adult Christmas parties, teenagers, and should become a family Christmas tradition. I know I'll be reading it every year!

IoT for Architects is great. Easy to read and consume, relevant history, lots of information and will make an excellent reference book for the various areas it covers. As an architect myself, I was surprised at just how much I learn each time I read it.

Love this book! Just what I was looking for as a repository of IoT concepts and is a great launching pad for digging in to and awareness of other monitoring and IoT concepts. Well done.

The Internet of Things for Architects is a comprehensive book that does what it says. It combines theory, practice, and engineering advice to build a holistic system from sensor to cloud. The IOT world combines multiple domains of engineering and expertise. To understand how all the pieces interact you need a book like this as reference. It touches on device physics of sensors and power systems, goes into communication theory and why it’s important, and then rises that material to comprehensively talk about near range and long range communication. The book educates the reader of edge and gateway technology including fog compute, lambdas, and edge learning. You will understand networking and security as well. The book incorporates bleeding edge technologies and is comprehensive. For example, this is probably the best reference for Bluetooth 5 and Bluetooth mesh out right now. You also will learn of WAN protocols like cellular systems and 5G. Through in crypto currency and machine learning and this book nails it.No single book is as comprehensive and readable as this. If you are an expert in a domain like machine learning or a EE building sensors, this book is for you to understand how an IOT —SYSTEM— is built at enterprise scale.

The "Internet of Things for Architects" is well named. It provides good breadth and depth for those trying to get a handle on the world of IoT. The book starts with a peek into what IoT could/will be in the future, and then dips back into the history of how we arrived here. An overview of IoT device architecture is then followed by the details of the various technologies that are important for an architect: sensors, power systems, communications theory, protocols, routers, topologies, analytics, security, and so on. These are all excellent topics, and important for IoT, and Perry covers them well. The sections on sensors and Bluetooth are examples of the type of detailed and valuable explanation this book provides. They provide a good overview for those unfamiliar with the current state of the art, while giving significant detail for those needing more information. The section on sensors provides several different sensing technologies, their strengths and limitations, as well as examples of integrating sensors into a device - all valuable information when deciding which type of sensor to use in an IoT device. The section on Bluetooth is a great overview of Bluetooth classic, BLE, and Bluetooth Mesh, and how their respective communications work, even showing the contents of packets for BLE, and discussing beaconing. Since some of this information can be difficult to find, having it in one book can be a great help. The section on IoT security should be required reading for every architect considering implementing an IoT device. From the terminology and the discussion of various cyber attacks to understanding what should be done to design in security for devices, this section has much useful information for beginners as well as those with a good security background.Full Disclosure - I am a reviewer for this book, and did receive a free electronic copy. This review was not biased by this, however.

Internet of Things for Architects: Architecting IoT solutions by implementing sensors, communication infrastructure, edge computing, analytics, and securityThis book cuts through the marketing fluff and gets to the meat of what is needed to design and implement a real IoT solution. I have read a few other IoT books and they all glossed over many of the important details that this book covers. They seemed to lack the technical depth to give an architect the tools needed to go from concept to a working product. Although, the book is lengthy, I found the "Internet of Things for Architects" both technically authoritative and also easy to read. Having read through the book, I will still be keeping a copy nearby for future reference. All of the important IoT topics are covered. Networking, communication theory, analytics, fog computing, hardware sensors, IO protocols and security are all discussed in great detail. Some topics, such as software defined networking (SDN), may require additional resources to fully understand, but this book will give you a good understanding of IoT architecture. This is a must read for anyone designing or managing IoT projects.

I am helping to deploy an IOT solution today and I can tell you the next time I am leading an IOT project I am going to make sure the relevant team members have this book available as a reference. I felt it did a great job of detailing the anatomy of an IOT solution and all of the considerations that going into it. This book allows you to start at 20,000 feet, and then lets you zoom down to ground level. Additionally, when working with a team it is important that the members involved have a shared nomenclature and understanding. This book helps create that base. I will be recommending it to my peers and others who I know working in the IOT space.
