As a chemist, I appreciated the chemical detail. Since I had no formal training in biological chemistry, the discussions on physiological reactions was educational. Flags on interactions helped us avoid some mistakes. Each section has dozens of references for followup.I found this book delivers facts and test results on the various supplements, which is especially helpful when exploring controversial supplements. Some entries give dosages used in trials. It takes some digging, but there is a LOT of good info between these covers.

For those of you in a health-related field, this book will be familiar. It's formatted as other PDRs, and is a thorough and reliable resource. It *is* a hefty volume! It's not something you're going to carry around. It's a wonderful place to find data you can feel confident in, and is cross-referenced in a variety of ways. It naturally contains good references. It contains listings for all the various supplements available, and can help you narrow or expand your dietary needs for your own body and health. I use it a lot in combination with the Mosby text (which is a bit more portable). For those with a little science background and inclination toward greater detail, it's a nice addition to a personal health library.

Very, very complete reference guide to most of the nutritional supplements on the market. Formatted like the Drug PDR. Outstanding for nutritionists and other medical professionals.

I got this to help evaluate supplements at work, but could easily spend hours reading this for personal knowledge and enjoyment! So thorough. It's hard to find this high quality information on the web-- there just isn't much research in this area.

Note: First of all, there are 2 natural remedy PDRs, one for Nutritional rRemedies and Supplements, and another specifically for Herbal Remedies. You will NOT find herbal info in the nutritional PDR, nor nutritional supplements in the Herbal PDR.I have subscribed to the PDR for Nutritional Supplements, as well as the PDR for Herbal Remedies, since they first were available. The Nutritional supplement volumes seem to come out with editions more often than the Herbal Remedies, probably because there are simply a limited number of herbs, and their uses have been well-documented for centuries, if not millenia. The updates of those volumes contain more updated research, and more information about side effects and interactions. The Nutritional Supplement volumes require revision sooner due to the greater amount of research into so many of the newly identified nutrients and their effects on the human body.As a holistic practitioner who engages in multiple natural healing modalities, in addition to earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree, I use natural healing methods in treating my own medical disorders, and have successfully assisted clients to control blood pressure, reduce harmful cholesterol, eliminate allergic responses, quell the bouts of asthma, promote improved respiratory tract function, improve intestinal function and elimination, and restore restful sleep, as just a small sample of what can be achieved using natural methods, nutritional and herbal remedies.My scientific background and training in nursing makes me especially cautious of overinflated claims about certain remedies, but it is wonderful to have the research listed in a respected and responsible publication, such as the PDRs, to provide allopathic physicians, among others, with the rationales and research that provide the basis for using the nutritional and herbal supplements in a holistic regime for healing.I certainly do also keep up with the research and information from leaders in the natural health care field, but in presenting information that will be convincing to allopathic practitioners, and win them over to the side of the benefits of natural remedies, the information that comes from the PDRs holds a lot of weight, as it is a resource most physicians are used to depending upon.I am now ordering the latest Nutritional PDR, and passing on my older volume to a nurse practitioner who is another formerly strictly allopathic practitioner to be won over to the side of natural interventions. (This review is for the Kindle version)I'm currently studying for the CPA and I'm using this ebook as a reference guide when I need clarification on a certain topic. I love to have hard copy editions of all my textbooks/learning materials so I was hesitant to purchase this in the Kindle version. However, after seeing the hard copy edition in person, I realized I didn't want to lug a 1000+ page book around that is also a paperback (durability issues). So I purchased the Kindle version and I have to say I'm very satisfied.It took a bit of getting used to but now I think I'm getting much more out of this book from the Kindle version than I would have with the paperback edition. If I need to find a sub-sub-topic, I just need to do a search, rather than poring over an index. Also, as in all Kindle books, I can find definitions as needed with a push of a button. Oh, I'm sorry, I mean tap, and hold ;) When I go to an appointment or some place that will require some waiting time, I have the entire GAAP book in my little Kindle Paperwhite. Maximizing my study time.The only downside to the e-book version (assuming you are using a Kindle), is that large data tables are too big for the Kindle screen. Even if you bring the font size down to the size for ants to read, most tables would not fit. This results in cut off tables that could span multiple pages and pretty much have no utility. However, this problem is not a real issue because when I'm full on studying, I have my laptop out and i just use Kindle for PC software to read the book. There, the tables are shown in full and are completely readable and understandable.As for the content itself, it's very clear and well-written with many examples. I love the book because it gives you the authoritative GAAP rules but also the reasoning behind those rules which really helps me understand why some rules are the way they are.

Wiley provides so many great accounting resources and this is one of them. I passed the CPA exam on my own thanks to Wiley products. This guide provides pretty good explanations on the ASC from FASB and includes some good examples.The one downside is that the guide is a little dry, but that is to be expected.

Technical book, well written and exactly what I wanted. Not quite as easy to search as I had hoped on the Kindle version, but portability was my key requirement. Very useful if like me you are regularly looking for a good interpretative reference for GAAP, but don't want to carry the physical book around.

Pretty good guide. Needs better navigation and search capabilities on the Kindle version.

Each year I look forward to the release of this great resource. It's logical layout and thoughtful insights and examples are just two of the many reasons this guide has always been on my desk, and always will be. Keep up the great work!
