As always, Diana Gabaldon never fails to thoroughly entertain the reader and Seven Stones to Stand and Fall is no exception. I was happy to revisit several of the stories I'd already read in other books and was totally delighted with the two new additions. I found myself wanting more of Hal and Minnie in A Fugitive Green and am hoping that she will give us more glimpses of these two very interesting characters in their early years in some of her upcoming works.Lord John is one of my favorite characters in the Outlander-verse and I always welcome more stories where he is featured. The Grays make for interesting reading and Ms. Gabaldon doesn't disappoint here with either of them.Great one to add to your collection if you are an Outlander fan.
I had read some of these novellas on my Kindle, but wanted to have the paper book, and of course read the stories I had missed. Although I am waiting for the next instalment in the Claire/Jamie saga, I enjoyed reading the “bulgesâ€, as Ms. Gabaldon calls them. My book arrived quickly.
What a lovely collection of stories about characters much loved in previously visited books. Diana knows how to hold interest by expanding on already known characters.
I didn't enjoy this at all. I have read all of Diana Gabaldon's Outlander books and hoped this may have more of the same. The short story formatwas OK, but I found the plots weak and just got bored. Never finished it.
I liked the period filling in the 1760’s.I loved the original Outlander books and have read them all. It was hard for me to get interested in some of the stories.Liked Virgins and the one about Hal and Minnie. The rest, not so much. I like LJG, but couldn’t keep my interest.Thought I’d get the Scottish Prisioner to tied me over until book nine comes out.
As a long time fan of Diana's work, I had already read/owned copies of some of the stories, but it was worth duplicating them to get the new novellas. The backstory of Minnie and Hal was fantastic.
Fantastic insights into the background characters. Lord John family are really interesting and definitely worth the time to read their stories.
A great book which fills in some of the 'gaps' in the big novels. Written in the usual extremely readable style of all Diana Gabaldon's books. Feel as though I now know a lot more about some of the minor characters in the big books...almost need to re-read the big ones!
