I purchased this e-book a couple days after it came out, and just recently got back from my trip. Anton Swanepoel, thank you so much I already sent you an email personally thanking you for putting together such a wonderful package, but I wanted to personally leave you a public review as well. People obviously this isn't for everyone, but if you found your way to e-books about Cambodian temples. Well it probably is, we planned our entire trip based around the places in this book.My husband and I are both archeologists so naturally we wanted to see as many places as we could at once. We were able to plan an effective route to hit all 20 temples on our 2-week trip because of you, we had the experience of a lifetime. It also probably has nothing to do with your e-book, but I was purposed to on my trip at the temple of Angkor Wat. Gosh if that wasn't the most romantic thing my hubby could have done!The temples were all magnificent and we were able to find cheap local guides at each one! This was truly a life changing journey and while I can't say your experience will be exactly as mine will, but as far as what the book provides it's absolutely spot on. We only really had to do research about getting to Cambodia and between the sites, aside from that everything else we needed was covered in a neat and organized fashion. I highly recommend this book as a quick read and a great source to plan a trip from. We also noticed that you have another book about Phnom Penh, we're going to purchase that and plan our next trip around it! Keep making these we love ‘em!

I arrived in Cambodia for a three day stay without much notice. Because I didn't have time to read through a 200+ page book to plan my itinerary, this book was PERFECT. I read through the brief but very useful descriptions of the temples and picked out my favorites. I then took screenshots and took them to my hotel front desk where they told me the best way to hit all of them. Perhaps a couple more pictures of each temple would be useful but this might take away from the conciseness. Overall, for my purposes, I wouldn't change a thing. Because I wasn't able to research before I came, this book was a lifesaver! Thanks very much to the author!

Great, detailed information about the individual temples really helped us narrow down what temples were truly must see and how to allocate our time in Angkor Wat. We bought MANY guidebooks for our trip to Cambodia, and this was lightweight, concise, and gave more information than most of the other guidebooks costing three times as much and weighing 20 times more. This book very much felt like it was written by an all-knowing local, not a visiting guidebook writer. A must read for those visiting Angkor Wat!

Excellent book. The book has all the great places to stop and see. Many suggestions that worked out well.

After reading this short book, I don't have a good feel for why we should visit that temples that he suggests. He insists that we must visit these 20 temples out of hundreds in Angkor Wat but really does not offer a good reason for choosing them. I'm going to just defer to my guide when I get there. The black and white photos are of poor quality.

It is informative but be aware that even though the front cover may be in color, the interior pix are in back and white. Will still use it (among others) when I go in a few months.

Good concise summary of top temples. Enough to give a sense of what each one is but doesn't spoil too much with too many photos.

This as-it-happened diary gives a first-person perspective that you won't get anywhere else, and it paints a very vivid picture of the Greg Depression that makes me better understand my grandparents' life and times. He spells out through personal participation the problems created by widespread bank failures (which meant that depositors lost their money), and general lack of liquidity. Did you know that by the day FDR was sworn into office virtually every bank in the entire country had closed. Also most interesting, the author knows that the depressed market in both stocks and real estate is the "time to buy", and over the years he repeatedly speculates about when the bottom is reached and which property to buy. Better yet, he came back 10 or 20 years later and penciled in how some of those properties did. Given the shift in real estate away from downtown and into shopping malls, some of the properties he longed to buy at bargain prices, never ever recovered. Very readable.

A great book! Being a diary you can tell the author didn't know at any point when or if the depression would end -- an important perspective we don't have since the depression was so long ago and we now know how it turned out. As Ben was writing the diary, however, he had no idea; just like today for us. Will the market go up? go down? crash? Being "in the moment" is a very different perspective. Also the market recovery / rally in 1936 is something we don't hear much about but was real. It didn't last very long, however.Another realization by reading this is that we don't really learn from history. I know there is a famous quote (and I should know who said it: Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel -- thanks Larry and Sergey!) that says "The only thing we learn from history is that we learn nothing".

The description promised:This collection . . . reveals another side of the Great Depression—one lived through by ordinary, middle-class Americans, who on a daily basis grappled with a swiftly changing economy coupled with anxiety about the unknown future. ... ( they ) seem to speak directly to readers today.That would be a lot and it was all I expected.It is slightly misleading however. The author is by no means ordinary. Middle class, yes. Ordinary - no. He is an attorney and understands logic and mis-direction.What I got was a description of the evolution of an intellegent motivated man who admitedly knew nothing about stocks, bonds, investments or economics but who had a passion to understand what was happening, into a truely impressive economic prognosticator.He was observant enough to realize that the government and the news papers were not telling him the truth. He had a passion to find out what was really happening. He made an exhaustive study of economics, the business cycle, and past crashes. He soon came to realize that the "Experts" didn't know any more about what was going to happen than he did.He records his studies along with similarities between his current crisis and historical past crises. He makes predictions based on his own studies. He not only writes his expectations, he re-reads them years later and adds comments on his prior writings - one, two, and more years later that he was right or wrong in his expectations.I have been studying these crises since my father made me read "Extraordinary Popular Delusions and the Madness of Crowds" around 1960. I learned more practical knowledge from this book than from any other book I have ever read.Who should read this book?If you are worried about the future and want to know how to protect your assets and your standard of living. You really should read this book.If for some reason, you are NOT worried about the future and don't worry about protecting your assets and your standard of living. You need ths book even more.

I highly recommend this book for anyone who may be considering investing, especially in the stock market. As a recent college graduate I have just begun getting into the investment mindset and read another book that required reading this as 'homework' I am glad it did. I was able to read a first hand account of the mindset of many people during the Great Depression and the policies put into place that have helped shape the current economy. This book has also convinced me to become more involved in politics. I don't think I will be having any political debates anytime soon but I will pay more attention to candidates and policies put in place by the current president. If you are looking for a good reason to become more frugal and save money and cut down on debt, reading this book will really help make that push

This book changed my life. I have completely modified how I invest and for the better. This book is a page turner when you read how a middle class person is dealing on a daily basis with surviving during a time when even passbooks savings account books were being sold at a discount by individuals (because the banks were shutdown for so long people needed to raise some money to buy food or pay rent). Imagine your bank being shutdown for three years with your money in it.The sheer number of people who made money from hard work and then gambled it all away in the stock market is astounding. Also, it was amazing to learn for whom "common" stock was originally created for.After reading it I know that the recovery from 2008 will be at least ten years in the making. We are only just approaching the middle of the crisis, not the end. Be on the lookout and save as much as you can in various places.If I could give this book ten stars I would do it.

Are you ready for the theory (or theories) of everything? And not just theories, but insights into almost everything under the sun, and innumerable examples and illustrations. My favorite is the section in which Fat Tony debates Socrates, a near demolition of Platonic thought and it's attendant fetish for Top-down thinking.You won't agree with everything in this work, but the open minded will find it highly stimulating, even inspiring--a work of tremendous sweep and power.

One of my three favorite books of the summer.The concept of antifragile is amazing. It will provide the more random areas of your life with a justification that may not exist. Although Taleb builds on earlier books regarding randomness and black swans, the content of this book can easily stand by itself. I should warn you though, if you are like me, I went back and bought several of his earlier books.I read the kindle version and listened the it on Audible too. The only thing I did not like about this was that the Kindle version did not have page numbers in it unlike many current Kindle books. This is not Kindle's fault. I did love the way that the reader in Audible read the references as part of the text. Readers so often overlook footnotes and references.Reading on Kindle was fabulous. The ability to link references and people makes the reading a better experience.Okay, if you are going to read this book please extend the experience. Think YouTube too. Here's an example of what I mean - http://youtu.be/_MYTFWCbDKQ. If you watch this you'll see how much extended value there can be in this kind of activity. Okay, I know what you're thinking, you think you can just go to YouTube and watch. Of course you can. Be the book is better and the book will help you become selective.Two last things:1) successful fragilistas won't like Taleb - but they too should know his messages.2) some of his behavior will appear pompous and arrogant. So what, it is the content and if his personality turns you off during interviews and presentations, read the book. His content to too good to miss.Now, if you care, my two other favorites for this summer were, "A fighting Chance" and "the Goldfinch". I wonder what Mr. Taleb would think of being in this group?

To reveal creeping determinism, or `abstract blindness' I am reminded of the WWII bombers that returned from German bomb runs. The ones that returned were all shot-up and full of holes. The General asked, `what can we do to protect the bombers'? A smart mathematician said put extra armor where there are "no" holes. Where There are No Holes! Of course, Antifragile and the work of the author are about being aware of the unintended consequences that we can not see, or even contemplate.When looked thru the lens of abstract blindness, one realizes that the bombers that did not return were the ones with holes in them that no one could see. This dove tails into the Antifragile's frequent reminder that absence of evidence (of harm), is not the same as evidence of absence -- meaning (in my view) just because there is 30 years of data that says it has never happened before does not mean it will not happen. This is the turkey's view prior to Thanksgiving Day problem - from Black Swan.As for Seneca's Asymmetry, if you have more to lose than benefit from fate then you are fragile. Seneca's practical counter to being fragile was to go through mental exercises to write off possessions, so when losses occurred he would not feel the sting. And also use a barbell approach meaning keep the extremes on the ends and therefore avoidance is in the middle. This fine book also has a considerable amount of discussions on health matters that range from Hormesis (think vaccines), medications that we don't need, your private doctor may be your worst enemy, non-linear activity (anti-marathon training), and much more.If you consider this the 3rd book in the series of Fooled By Randomness and Black Swan, then the Trilogy Was Worth The Wait. I try not to provide spoilers, so I do not provide a detailed synopsis of the books since I feel that is the author’s job.“Before Vengeance” is another novella, which introduces the backstory to other important characters in the multiple dimensions in Louisa Lo’s “Vengeance Demon” series. Not only does it provide the background on Megan Aequitas’s best friend Serafina, it sets up the action that follows in Book Three, “A Good Vengeance.”Louisa Lo has shown she is a dedicated author in both the “Vengeance Demon” series and her new “A Royal Apocalypse” series. She is intent on placing as much accuracy in her writing as is possible in a fantasy series, with her own exhaustive research and seeking out experts in fields she does not know well. Her writing style is truly magical, with strong characters, superior dialogue, and stories that resonate on multiple levels throughout. Her books are well-written, skillfully edited, and capably proofed; something few writers in today’s independent author, self-published novel, marketplace bother with.“Before Vengeance” is an extremely well-written novella that prepares the reader for the action that follows. Louisa Lo is a truly talented storyteller with a lot of delightful, well-thought-out and interesting stories to tell. I look forward to reading them all. The only true problem of “Before Vengeance” is that it ended too soon since it was not a full novel. It is the same thing that can be said of all of Louisa Lo’s works since you never want them to end. Before Vengeance #2 - The author states this is a prequel to Vengeance Be Mine. I read it after VBM and I found it doesn't matter about the order. This is a well written, rather serious introduction to Serafina and her secretly being swapped with another child, and her childhood best friend and love. and his changelings world.Vengeance Be Mine #1 - Funny. A well written, intriguing introduction to a cast of likable, and not, characters with a funny, fast paced and exciting-in-places plot. I love the author's idea of AA, and the fact there's no vulgar language and sex, just plain entertainment.Vengeance Unclaimed #3 - A funny, well written short story that holds the reader's attention. While there's no action, the story is fast paced suspense and humor as Megan and her family take a sudden vacation between a rock and a hard place.A Good Vengeance #4 - Intense! This book makes the previous three look like sleeping pills and they are not! The twisting plot was like riding hurricane Harvey, which I did some in my yard; every which way but loose, this book just grabs you and along you go for a fun, scary, intriguing, suspense filled ride. The characters are getting better with age and experience in this well written story. If you love Butcher and Harris, this humorous book, and the previous three, will keep you entertained.Vengeance Demons Boxed Set - Quick, funny stories. Great sense of humor. There's a blurb before each book to inform the reader about the book's contents; very helpful. This is a set of well written, intriguing, humorous books with a variety of characters and plots that twist and turn keeping the reader immersed in the fast pace action, until the end. The stories move quickly and the author's sense of humor and vengeance ideas are great.

Although Before Vengeance is a prequel story in the Vengeance Demons series, it is not necessary to read it prior to book one. I actually read it after reading the first book, and found I enjoyed it a lot this way – it explained quite a few things I was interested in, giving me an insight into one of the characters I wished to know better.In Vengeance Be Mine, we find out a lot about the supernatural world but focus mainly upon the vengeance demon and trickster elements. With Before Vengeance, we get an insight into another world – the fae, the changelings. Although it’s a very quick read, one you can complete in next to no time at all, this one does give us a real in depth look at the world. We get to see how it functions, we are introduced to some of the big players, and we get answers about Serafina’s past.Honestly, I was so excited to find out more about the female who intrigued me so much in Vengeance Be Mine. This story of her past really does do her justice – so much so, I came to love her even more than I imagined I would. I really cannot wait to start book two in this series, as I know I’ll be getting even more of the characters I came to love in this short story. It really does help solidify Searfina as a character, pulling us into her story and leaving us wanting more (if the truth is to be told, a part of me loves Serafina more than I loved Megan and is more interested in seeing Serafina’s story play out).Without a doubt, this wonderful prequel is very much worth the read if you enjoyed the first book in the series.

For me, this was an eye-opener to some inversions and open sounding guitar chord shapes that are very prevalent in Eva's music.

The most beautiful voice I have ever heard.And when you listen to her live recordings, you will notice that she says "Thank You" after every song. It's nice to hear those words.

Well written transcriptions. arrived as promised.

This is a great collection of Eva's interpretations of jazz and pop standards. The tune choice is nothing special - these songs have been covered by countless artists over the years. However Eva's interpretations of these tunes were what made them fresh and powerful. The vocal line in the book faithfully reproduces Eva's unique blues and gospel phrasing and superb use of building and releasing tension. If you can't learn her style just by listening, this book will point you the rest of the way.

I love her and these are very easy to follow.

Eva Cassidy was a wonderful musician. Her rendition of "Somewhere over the rainbow" is the best I have heard, (You can listen to it on Youtube) This book is great and easy to read.

This book captures the details of Eva's arrangements on both the vocals and accompaniment. Someone took a great deal of time to notate her phrasing and the actual chords she plays. An excellent study of her beautiful style.
