My son loves the black, white, and red images contained within this book. He especially loves the page of the smiling kids. The words on the page are VERY basic, i.e- "children smiling" or "flowers bloom". However, the book is developmentally appropriate for my son right now.
My 2 month old son loves this and really pays attention to it. I had bought a ton of colored books but he is too young for them and doesn't pay attention to them at all. But this one is prefect. I personally love it too. I bought a bunch of B&W books, and this is the best. Also 2 1/2 months he doesn't mind doing tummy time if he's looking at the book .
Our week old baby girl loves to look at this book! It mesmerizes her. Nice to have on hand for little crying spats, changing time, tummy time, and story time.Her favorite page is the flowers. Soon as I turn to that page a big smile comes on her face. We leave it open to this page to calm her down.
I am so glad I got this book! I have so many other board books that I was debating whether or not I needed another one but this one got so many good reviews, I decided to give it a shot. And it has now become my son's favorite book! The contrasting colors and patterns are so eye-catching and visually appealing to young babies that they can't stop looking at the pictures. Don't even hesitate to buy this, just do it.UPDATE: This is my go-to book for baby showers and everyone I have given it to has loved it as well!
I gave this book to my 3 month old grandson for Christmas and he absolutely LOVES it. He talks and Coos and laughs and smiles at each and every page. He gets fussy if you put it down. Don't even hesitate to purchase. Seriously, buy this for the baby in your life. :-)
I still don’t understand the fascination people have with back and white books for newborns and infants.. I got this book for 3 month old. He was already “enjoying†My Car by Byron Barton (available on Amazon) and I decided to try a B/W book. It’s ok but doesn’t hold the baby’s attention as well as the colorful car book (which kept its appeal for his older sibs into toddler years). He’s more likely to grab and chew Look,Look than look at it.
My son is 10 months, and I’ve been reading him this book several times a week for about 9 months now. About two months ago, something interesting started to happen. I’ll turn the page, and he will lean forward to put his nose and mouth to the book. We have one other black/white book of bugs. But he does it only with this book. When it happens, it is hilarious for the both of us. Besides that, there definitely is a difference in him from when we color books and the black/white books. His attention is stronger.
Sure there’s only 6 pages but the black and white is super eye catching for babies. The images are rather large and simplistic.This book doesn’t really have a “theme†like opposites but it’s still a good book to have!
This series is great for capturing your little one's attention to books. We started reading these high contrast books at 4 weeks and our son has been very alert while reading these ever since. We also think that this has helped carry over into early attention to other books. He really studies all of the pictures, especially the sun! Our favorite book in this series is "Look, Look Outside!" which our baby does like even more than this one.
